Thilo Reich

Thilo Reich is an interdisciplinary architect, artist, and designer based in Berlin. In his artistic practice, he explores urban surfaces, structures, and materials, as well as the traces of use, time, and social processes that are revealed in them.
The starting point for his work is often everyday and overlooked elements of urban space. Through castings, digital processes, and the manipulation or transformation of these elements into new materials, Reich extracts these structures from their original context and reveals their formal and cultural characteristics. His focus is not solely on the material itself, but on the surface, structure, and imprint as carriers of history, use, and memory.
His works combine conceptual exploration with precise craftsmanship and operate at the intersection of architecture, design, and art.

Thilo Reich ist ein interdisziplinär arbeitender Architekt, Künstler und Designer mit Sitz in Berlin. In seiner künstlerischen Praxis untersucht er urbane Oberflächen, Strukturen und Materialien sowie die Spuren von Nutzung, Zeit und gesellschaftlichen Prozessen, die sich in ihnen zeigen.
Ausgangspunkt seiner Arbeiten sind häufig alltägliche und übersehene Elemente des Stadtraums. Durch Abformungen, digitale Verfahren und die Bearbeitung oder Überführung in neue Materialien löst Reich diese Strukturen aus ihrem ursprünglichen Zusammenhang und macht ihre formalen und kulturellen Eigenschaften sichtbar. Dabei geht es nicht allein um das Material selbst, sondern um Oberfläche, Struktur und Abdruck als Träger von Geschichte, Nutzung und Erinnerung.
