Mono x UdK

Mono is a family business in its sixth generation. Since 1959, the brand has collaborated with designers to create timeless products for the table and beyond— still crafted today in its own manufactory in Mettmann. For Currents, Mono has launched the Mono Summer Residency in collaboration with the Design & Social Context project group at UdK Berlin, led by Prof. Ineke Hans. Over the course of two months, students Garance Pröbsting and Jan Cichon are developing a pop-up snack bar as a site-specific installation together with Mono Studio Berlin. The project also marks the first use of a yet-unreleased Mono product — a snack tool designed by student Oskar Poetsch as part of an earlier UdK project.

Mono ist ein Familienunternehmen in sechster Generation. Seit 1959 entwickelt die Marke gemeinsam mit Designer:innen zeitlose Produkte für den gedeckten Tisch und darüber hinaus – bis heute gefertigt in der eigenen Manufaktur in Mettmann. Anlässlich von Currents hat Mono gemeinsam mit der von Prof. Ineke Hans geleiteten Projektgruppe Design & Social Context der UdK Berlin, die Mono Summer Residency ins Leben gerufen. Über zwei Monate hinweg entwickeln die Studierenden Garance Pröbsting und Jan Cichon gemeinsam mit dem Mono Studio Berlin einen Pop-up-Imbiss. Dabei kommt erstmals auch das noch unveröffentlichte Mono Produkt zum Einsatz – das von Oskar Poetsch in einem früheren Projekt an der UdK gestaltete Snack Tool.
